David Holroyd qualified from the University of Edinburgh and
subsequently undertook surgical training in London, Oxford and
Glasgow. He was awarded his DPhil from the University of
Oxford following a period of research under the supervision of
Professor Peter Friend and Professor Constantin Coussios
investigating novel methods of machine perfusion preservation for
liver transplantation, funded by EPSRC.
Following completion of higher surgical training in 2020, David
undertook advanced subspecialist fellowship training in the
Liverpool Hepatobiliary Unit and was appointed as a consultant HPB
surgeon in Glasgow in 2021. His main clinical and research
interests lie in metastatic colorectal cancer and quality
improvement in cancer care. He also contributes to the
regional neuroendocrine, gynaecological oncology and uro-oncology
multispecialty services.
David has a strong interest in postgraduate and undergraduate
medical education. He is the course director for the
Intercalated BSc in Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow,
sits on the West of Scotland Higher Surgical Training Committee and
is a current SQS Fellow with National Education for Scotland.
